Adam Schlosberg was born in Johannesburg South Africa in 1988, where he now lives after spending several years in New York. Schlosberg’s area of interest is pop art with a South African flavour, incorporating pressing political and social issues presented in a fun and satirical way. He predominantly works in mixed media and acrylic on canvas. With a background in finance working on Wall Street in New York at an investment bank, he seeks to explore the pros and cons of modern day capitalism. While living in the gallery-rich area of Chelsea in Manhattan, he was exposed to the burgeoning contemporary pop art scene and was inspired to create works with a South African twist.
Recently he has created work that has explored the state capture scandal, the Cape Town water crisis, and the presidential transition from Zuma to Ramaphosa, all local issues with global implications. He has exhibited at the Candice Berman Fine Art gallery in Bryanston. He completed his Honours degree in finance at the University of Johannesburg, where he won awards for being the top student in all his majors. He is represented by Candice Berman Gallery, Johannesburg – South Africa.
