Phillip Mabote

Mabote works mainly in linocut, he choose this medium as a healing process in term of removing surfaces. His late grandmother was the main source of inspiration for him. She inspired by she sees the world, in terms of conflicts during his parenting. His works renders a very profound concept of seeking and finding his own identity and roots through his experience of his biological mother’s disappearance. He uses metaphors such as eagles, game cards and compass in his personal search.
