“My work is influenced by my daily life – most of my paintings focus on facial expressions, emotions, offering a window into the human experience. I aim to capture the nuances of daily existence and the depth of emotion that connects us all.”

Thandazani Ndlovu was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, in 1985. An optimistic and hardworking, self-taught artist working in the contemporary, figurative and impressionist style, Ndlovu first discovered his talent at the age of six, drawing cartoon characters of his classmates and teachers. His professional life started as a shoe designer for a factory in Zimbabwe, a position left when he realised it was limiting his creativity. Ndlovu decided to pursue his calling, and in 2008, he started painting professionally.

Ndlovu’s work is based on the dying cultures of Africa, aimed at reminding people of their roots. The artist moved to South Africa in 2016, working from a home studio in Johannesburg. His work has been sold through galleries in South Africa and Zimbabwe, with commissioned pieces also sold at charitable auctions. Ndlovu’s work is included in private collections in Switzerland, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, where he has also been invited to present a solo exhibition.

A full-time artist, Ndlovu also finds time to give back to his community through his support of local orphanages and fundraising initiatives. Ndlovu wishes to create awareness on social issues and make a difference by raising funds for disadvantaged children all over the world with his work.
